Friends Occasionally Not Disagreeing speeds into their 50th episode with their review of Bullet Train! The recent movie stars Brad Pitt and a wonderful ensemble cast and is now streaming on Netflix. They go through what they knew about the movie before their review, if anything, and how well the movie met those expectations. Episode 46: Top Ten Tool Songs (MUSIC)
In what can only be described as a bizarre lead up to the holidays, the hosts look at the rock band Tool this week. Cody and Brett welcome a returning Matt and a debuting Dan as they go through a look at Maynard & Co.--the band Tool! The hosts go through their own experiences with the band and things get a little more introspective than expected as they talk about highs and lows in their lives, when Tool got them through some tough times, how Tool is helping them face being middle-aged, and more. They go through the famous music videos for the band and also talk about what the band is like in concert. Famous urban legends are addressed and also a rumor that the wife of one of the hosts used to bump into Maynard's dad occasionally at her work. Episode 44: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE)
In this episode Cody takes Dave and Brett through a recap of the new, festive Disney+ offering The Guardians of the Galaxy Special! Before they get into that, though, they discuss the format of the new "Special Presentation" style of MCU offerings. The potential for future offerings under the Special Presentation banner are considered. Then they go through very brief recaps of their thoughts on Werewolf by Night, the first movie to have the new label on Disney+. Then the guys hit the main topic, which is a recap of how much they enjoyed The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. What did Mantis and Drax do in their first starring roles? Was Kevin Bacon great or really great? How did it deliver as a holiday movie? And what are some ways the show furthers the actual story of the Guardians of the Galaxy? The hosts read a review from Joe and then each chime in with their own ratings for the special. Finally, Cody shares eight directions the MCU is moving into, with different "branches" led by different groups of heroes. It's becoming a pretty crowded place, and there are far more heroes on the horizon. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? In the opening NON-SPOILER section, Cody and Dave take you through their expectations in an MCU movie dealing with the tragic, real-life loss of Chadwick Boseman who played Black Panther. They give their thoughts on if the film respected his legacy and if the decisions the directors and producers made were the correct call or not. They also give you a general recommendation on going to see the film or not!
